When is a Duck not a Duck?

When it’s a coot. Evidently coots, like this American Coot, are not ducks. They are waterfowl. They aren’t ducks because they don’t have webbed feet. We saw this fellow at Bayfield feeding alone along the shore of the marina on the 7th of May.

We also saw trilliums carpeting the floor of the woods beside the highway on our way home.
