Following the heavy rains of the previous 48 hours or so, we decided to take a look at the sailboat club to see how things had weathered the storm and to see if we could spot any interesting bird life. As we left the house we noticed a nuthatch on the back porch and a downy headed woodpecker flying around as well.
Many of the small boats at the club were filled with water. In fact one was half submerged. It will take some magic to get that one out of the water.
And while we were hanging about and doing a little bailing this green heron came to check us out.
Funny how they look like another bird entirely when they extend their necks and display their plummage. The rivers everywhere were filled to capacity and the waterfall at St. Marys was very lively too.
