Horned Larks & Friends

Finally we found some Horned Larks this winter! While we have already caught sight of a blizzard of Snow Buntings near Drayton, we had seen very few of their buddies, the Horned Larks to date this winter. But today, on a trip toward Monkton we finally spotted them both in a couple of  large  flocks. The first group of about 50 were on the road and the second was an open corral beside a large barn near the road.

DSC_1199Definitely a mix of Larks & Buntings in this group!

Anyhow, with the lightly falling freezing rain and the snow causing drifting across the roads we decided to head for the barn!
