Teeming Thames

DSC_2586

On our last visit to the Thames we weren’t able to spot the Harlequin, although other birders told us that it was still in the area. However, we did not go away disappointed because we had the good fortune of seeing a Northern Pintail! The open waters of the Thames were very busy with Goldeneye, Mallards, Canada Geese Mergansers and a number of Long Tailed Ducks as well. We also noted that the number of gulls is increasing too. So while some of the Northern species are were still hanging about, other birds that had left for the winter are on their way back.
