Well we just had to pop over to Erieau, since we were already in the neighbourhood and there were still a few hours of daylight remaining! One of the fields at the side of the highway was filled with Terns and Bonaparte’s Gulls. There were a fair number of Swallows in the area as well. At the Erieau Marina there were mostly Bonaparte’s Gulls and Terns as well as Red-breasted Mergansers and a few Buffleheads making themselves at home around the docks.
Out to impress!
The warmth and the bright sunshine made it tempting to hang around, but it was time to turn the car around and head for home. Of course keeping eyes on the skies as well as the road. We caught sight of two Great Blue Herons and a noisy flock of Mallards hovering over a distant field.
