DSC_7002I didn’t think we’d have a chance to get to Pelee this spring but in spite of arriving later in the day than would have been ideal, we packed a lunch, jumped in the car and arrived at the park in the early afternoon. As we approached Leamington, two Bald Eagles were soaring around in the sky just above us. It seemed like an auspicious welcome!

Baltimore Orioles and Yellow Warblers seemed to be the flavour of the day! Red-winged Blackbirds, Robins, Swallows and Starlings were plentiful too.

DSC_7173We also happened upon a couple of Wild Turkeys in full display! They were walking slowly together evidently doing their rather dignified “Spring strutt” so we didn’t disturb them and headed down another trail.

DSC_7042After a wonderful afternoon at Pelee and with no time to spare we decided to head over to the Hillman Marsh before heading home.
