Wainfleet Wetlands

As the rain started up again we continued our drive along the shore and were looking for the Wainfleet Wetlands which we intended to explore if the weather co-operated. And it did. Just as we arrived, the rain had let up and it was just spitting a bit. We had been told that the trail is popular for cycling and horseback riding. And so it was! After the riders had past, we headed down into one of the abandoned quarries.

The light was poor for photos but we did see a couple of  Yellowlegs along the edge of the water and there were lots of  Robins, Starlings, Chickadees and Sparrows flitting about in the scrub. It’s definitely a destination for another day, along with the Wainfleet Bog.
